Through my counselling for creative arts professionals, I offer a safe, confidential space for persons working in industries such as music, art, writers, film and television who are experiencing psychological difficulties.
I myself have been involved in the music business for 35 years and understand how working in such an industry comes with its own set of unique challenges that can have detrimental effect on relationships and lead us into self destructive behaviours.
Life throws up many obstacles that prevent us from living the happy/creative life we would like.
Being a creative person can be challenging for others who don’t necessarily understand the need to create and how such needs don’t always fit in with the socially accepted way to earn a living from our art – a challenging pursuit in itself. This can cause tensions within our interpersonal relationships.
When we come up against an impasse or traumatic event on life’s journey, it can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, angry or hopeless.
Counselling for creative arts professionals can offer the chance to express these feelings and work through the difficulties in a creative way in order to help you move forward in life. I will listen empathically to understand what it’s like to walk in your shoes, in order to help you find the solutions to your problems.
At the heart of my practice is the therapeutic relationship formed between myself and the client, a relationship built on trust, understanding and an unconditional positive regard for your experiences and difficulties, free of judgement.
Sessions are conducted face-to-face or remotely at a time that is convenient for you.
