Good mental health underpins a resilient person who is able to navigate life’s difficulties and get through them, eventually moving back to a fully functioning life.
This can be difficult when we have unaddressed issues such as anxiety, depression or low self esteem. Therapy can help by addressing the factors that cause such mental health issues.
Talking through and understanding why we can feel/think negatively about ourselves can unlock our true potential for growth. I feel that depression is an indicator that something isn’t right for an individual and needs to change, whether this is a change of circumstance or a change of view about an experience or how we see ourselves.
People often use palliative behaviours to help cope with unacceptable feelings, this can be the use of alcohol or drugs to name just two.
With help, I feel it is possible to gain control over our thoughts and behaviours and accept our feelings in a more conscious way.
Mental health issues include:
- Anxiety and/or panic attacks
- Personality disorders
- Substance misuse
- Eating disorders
